QUESTION

Please tell us about your work

I'm in charge of the development and implementation of training for instructors at overseas distributors and dealers, and planning and development for VR Training.

Our policy is "to take into account the career paths of our engineers and strengthen our system for developing human resources who can make the most of their skills in the field". Using VR Training technology, I am developing effective and efficient futuristic training that is not limited by time and distance.

QUESTION

Before the development of VR Training,
what challenges are faced in engineer training?

For advanced training that is challenging to provide on-the-job, dealers and distributors around the world relied on group training provided by the head office or by the manufacturer.

However, there are many challenges for group training such as "actual products," "cost," and "environment". In terms of "actual products," it is challenging to arrange actual vehicles for training. Reservations for meeting rooms and venues, and the purchase of training materials and parts are also required.

In terms of "cost", travel and housing expenses for participation are needed. In particular, cross-country participants from overseas to the manufacturer can be very expensive.

In terms of "environmental", it was also affected by restrictions of by COVID-19, natural disasters, and social conditions caused.

QUESTION

What changes have you seen in offline
training after VR Training has been developed?

It is still in a trial stage for now... even if we are in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, we are able to provide overseas' instructors with the same training as the offline group training by using a vehicle.

There is no longer a necessity to fly all the way from overseas. There is no need for the company to prepare actual vehicles for training anymore. The number of people who wish to participate in the course has increased significantly because of online and virtual.

We fully realize the high expectations for VR Training and new training that does not require travel and is easy to participate in.

QUESTION

What do you think the training for
engineers will be like in the future?

In parallel with the development of VR Training, we are surveying what engineers are looking for in training and what they are having difficulties with.

What we have found is that many engineers want to learn new things and become professionals. However, their growth is hindered by the busyness of their daily work and the limited amount they can learn in their daily work.

We are not always able to learn from the customer's car, especially if we cannot fail on that. Also, we do not always have the right car which is suitable for training in our dealer shop. In this situation, we would like to promote both real and virtual training while developing a new training material that allows trainees to learn what or where they want to learn by using the cars they want without worrying about failure.

QUESTION

Besides the engineers
who are the main users of VR Training, What are the other benefits?

It is beneficial not only to the engineers but also to the dealers, distributors, and manufacturers. Because it is possible to provide group training without limitations of actual products, cost, or environmental constraints by using VR Training.

We also believe that if the managers can track the learning status and skills of engineers by visualizing them, it will be possible to digitalize and enhance the training effectively.

Our mission is to create a training environment that is beneficial to both providers and users.
